Star Kitchen, the latest side project from The Disco Biscuits bassist Marc Brownstein, has been tearing up the live music circuit since the band’s formation in 2018. As Brownstein has noted on various occasions, the funky project was tailor-made for all-star sit-ins and collaborations at events like Jam Cruise.
That vision came to fruition on Jam Cruise 17 in early 2019, when the band welcomed a bevy of guests during their late-night set on the Pool Deck including (among others) guitarist Eric Krasno and saxophonist Karl Denson. Below, you can watch a pro-shot video of Star Kitchen playing Bob James‘ jazz classic “Nautilus” with Eric Krasno and Karl Denson on Jam Cruise 17:

As you can see/hear above, Star Kitchen with Krasno and some brass makes for a potent groove cocktail. On Sunday, December 29th, Star Kitchen will once again test that theory with a guest-filled Phish after-party at New York City’s Sony Hall. While Denson will not be on hand, Star Kitchen and Eric Krasno will still enjoy some all-star horn accompaniment at Sony Hall courtesy of the entire Trey Anastasio Band horn section: Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet), Natalie Cressman (trombone), and James Casey (saxophone). Fans who make it out are sure to enjoy even more surprises when the band takes the stage in NYC on 12/29—that’s just how Star Kitchen rolls.
Tickets for the last Star Kitchen show of the year are still available here.
