Bluegrass outfit Steep Canyon Rangers, R&B group Boyz II Men, and the Asheville Symphony have released a new collaborative rearranged single of Steep Canyon Rangers’ “Be Still Moses”. The song appears on the Asheville-based band’s 2007 album, Lovin’ Pretty Women.

Produced by Michael Selverne, the single is set to appear on Steep Canyon Rangers’ forthcoming orchestral album, which is due out early next year via Yep Rock Records.

“[Selverne’s] idea from the start was to get guest singers on there,” SCR’s banjo player Graham Sharp told Billboard. “We tossed around a couple of names, and he thought we needed a vocal group on it. Selverne said he was going to approach Boyz II Men, and we all look at each other on the bus like, ‘What is he talking about? This is insane!’ We trusted him to make it happen, and the [recording] came back and just blew everybody’s mind.”

“We always get this chill when we know we are in the right place,” added Boyz II Men’s Shawn Stockman. “And we got a few chills working on this project.”
