On Tuesday, Grammy Award-winning bluegrass outfit Steep Canyon Rangers announced a new live album, North Carolina Songbook, which is set for release on Friday, November 29th via Yep Roc Records.

The forthcoming eight-track live album highlights the band’s 2019 performance at Wilkesboro, NC’s Merlefest, where Steep Canyon Rangers honored their home state with a set chock-full of North Carolina icons’ tunes including Elizabeth Cotten, Doc Watson, Ben E King, James Taylor, and more.

In addition to the album announcement, Steep Canyon Rangers have shared a live video of their reinterpretation of jazz great Thelonious Monk‘s “Blue Monk”, from the band’s 2019 Merlefest performance. Watch the “Blur Monk” video, which premiered via Garden & Gun, below:
