Today, iconic vocalist Stevie Nicks turns 71 years young. To celebrate another trip around the sun for Nicks, we dug up one our favorite recent clips of Stevie: The time she surprised the young cast of School of Rock: The Musical to sing a classic Fleetwood Mac tune.

Anyone who’s watched the movie or Broadway versions of Jack Black’s classic School Of Rock film will know just how crucial Stevie Nicks is to the storyline. In a pivotal moment, Black’s character Dewey Finn wins over straight-laced principal Rosalie Mullins, played by Joan Cusack, by putting “Edge Of Seventeen” on the jukebox of a local bar. The two subsequently engage in a glorious sing-a-long and bond over letting loose to Stevie Nicks’ vocals.

The scene naturally found its way into the Broadway production, which originally starred then-13-year-old guitarist Brandon “Taz” Neiderauer. Unbeknownst to the audience, Nicks herself not only came out to that performance of the show, but also joined the cast for a version of “Rhiannon.” As she notes after the song, “I would just like to say, being in the presence of these kids that are so amazing…honestly sometimes I close my eyes and I’m not sure that it’s not Fleetwood Mac. It’s very trippy. They are so good.”
