On Thursday night, Colorado-bred six-piece The String Cheese Incident played their first of three shows at Chicago, IL’s Auditorium Theatre.

The String Cheese Incident opened up their first set with “Sweet Spot”, giving bassist Keith Moseley a chance to flex his vocal chops out of the gates. The band moved forward with a pairing of “My One & Only” into “Bam!”, which was followed up by a tender take on “Barstool”. The remainder of the first set included a seamless segue of “These Waves”, “Djibouti Bump”, “Miss Brown’s Teahouse”, and a set-closing “Valley of the Jig”.

Following a brief setbreak, The String Cheese Incident returned and opened up their second set with “Believe”, which smoothly flowed into “Illegal”. “Illegal” eventually landed into “Sing A New Song”, highlighted by some explosive interplay between Bill Nershi and Michael Kang. The sextet continued on with Jimmie Skinner‘s country classic, “Doin’ My Time”, before launching into an improv-heavy take on “Shine”. SCI closed out their second set with a recently debuted cover of Jimmy Martin‘s “My Walkin’ Shoes” sandwiched in between a massive “Birdland”. The band returned to deliver a lone encore of “Colliding”.
