On Sunday, The String Cheese Incident returned to Runaway Bay, Jamaica’s Jewel Paradise Cove for the third day of their International Incident destination event. The entirety of Sunday’s first set featured a pre-announced collaboration with longtime friend Keller Williams. It’s important to note that in 1999, SCI and Keller Williams collaborated on a full-length studio album entitled Breathe.

The Keller Williams Incident set kicked off with “Callaloo and Red Snapper” off of the aforementioned album, before the seven-piece unit moved into a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Eyes Of The World”. Bill Nershi and Michael Kang traded off some twangy solos, before the band worked through more Breathe cuts, including “Blatant Ripoff”, the album’s title-track, and “Vacate”. Keller stepped front and center to lead the band through “Sing for my Dinner”, a song that SCI helped back Keller on his 2007 album Dream. Following Keller’s “Mullet Cut” and “Kidney In A Cooler”, the Keller Williams Incident delivered the last Breathe tune of the night with “Best Feeling”, before the septet brought their collaborative set to a close with a breezy cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Scarlet Begonias”.

The String Cheese Incident returned sans Keller, opening up their second set of the evening with an exploratory take on “Just One Story”. Kang let it all hang out, firing off explosive solos on his electric mandolin, before Kyle Hollingsworth took the lead and moved into a more spacey realm. “Just One Story” smoothly made way for “Sirens”, as the jammin’ Jamaica crowd honed in on the intimate tune aside the beautiful Caribbean waters. The six-piece powerhouse picked up the pace with the Hollingsworth-led “Let’s Go Outside”, before delivering noteworthy takes on “Sweet Spot” and “Windy Mountain”. SCI came back to finish “Just One Story”, closing out their explosive set with some impeccable fiddle work by Kang. The String Cheese Incident initiated a full-on dance party with their first encore of  “Bumpin’ Reel” and a ripping “Restless Wind”, and then came back out for a second encore of “Rosie”, bringing the Sunday night rager to a final halt.

The String Cheese Incident has a busy 2019 ahead of them, as the band’s celebrating their 25th anniversary with an extensive nationwide tour. For a full list of The String Cheese Incident’s upcoming tour dates and ticketing information, head to their website.
