In July, the String Cheese Incident played two shows at the RIDE Festival in Telluride, CO, part of a seven-show Colorado run. There, the barefoot boys invited Sheryl Crow onstage to lend a hand on Allman Brothers Band classic “Midnight Rider” on night one and welcomed Chris Robinson to take lead vocals on a rendition of Al Green‘s “Take Me To The River” on night two.

During the RIDE Festival, SCI also took a gondola ride up to the summit of Telluride Ski Resort and recorded a “TramJam” rendition of “Colorado Bluebird Sky”, pickin’ away in the gondola. Guitarist Bill Nershi, mandolin/fiddle player Michael Kang, keyboardist Kyle Hollingsworth, and percussionist Jason Hann, jammed unplugged on the catchy tune off 2014’s Song In My Head.

Telluride has a very rich history and special relationship with bluegrass music, as well as with the String Cheese Incident. SCI got their start playing Telluride’s The Depot and Fly Me To The Moon Saloon early in their career before transitioning to bigger stages such as the Sheridan Opera House and Telluride Bluegrass Festival‘s main stage.
