Summer Camp Music Festival will return to Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, IL over Memorial Day weekend 2022 with a lineup headed by The Smashing Pumpkins. The festival will see the Chicago, IL-bred grunge outfit headline alongside hosts moe. and Umphrey’s McGee on May 27th–29th. A festival pre-party will take place Thursday, May 26th.

After putting on a pandemic-shifted festival back in August, the longstanding multi-faceted festival will return to its traditional Memorial Day slot for its 21st outing. Festival organizers announced the dates last month, with the first artist announcement arriving on Monday. Stay tuned for more lineup announcements over the coming weeks and months.

This will mark The Smashing Pumpkins’ first visit to Summer Camp, as well as the group’s first Central Illinois performance in over 15 years. Frontman and principal songwriter Billy Corgan recently reunited with three-fourths of the original lineup including James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlin, and Jeff Schroeder. The band, which still remains without founding bassist D’arcy Wretzky, released a new album last year, Cyr.

The Summer Camp lineup announcement also offers hope for moe. fans following guitarist Chuck Garvey‘s stroke last month. The band cleared its remaining tour schedule for 2021 after Chuck’s announcement, aside from a two-night stand at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY December 10th and 11th which the band has stated Chuck will not attend.
