SweetWater Brewing Company has released a new beer inspired by Widespread Panic, appropriately named “As Long As There’s Water.” The reference comes from Panic favorite, “Chilly Water”, off the band’s 1988 album, Space Wrangler.

In a Facebook post, SweetWater Brewing Company described the “summer slammer” as a “Crisp and refreshing berliner brewed with açaí berries – little tart, little berry, totally dope.”

“As Long As There’s Water” arrives with a healthy 4.8% ABV and is currently available in Georgia. It is not yet clear if the brew will make its way up the East Coast.

Widespread Panic and SweetWater have developed quite a relationship over the years, as the brewing company has booked the band to play its annual SweetWater 420 Festival several times, including in 2017 and 2019. Additionally, the band was also featured on SweetWater’s archival stream series at the end of April, following the festival organizer’s decision to postpone the event until 2021 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

SweetWater has worked with several bands on music-inspired brews in the past. In 2017, the brewery collaborated with The String Cheese Incident‘s Kyle Hollingsworth on the “Ground Score IPA”. In 2019 they released “IPPPPA”, a “bird-friendly” tribute to Pigeons Playing Ping Pong.

As far as Widespread Panic is concerned, like all bands, they have had to indefinitely clear their touring schedule as the health crisis continues to remain prevalent across the United States. In response, WSP recently began a weekly webcast series, dubbed “Never Miss A Sunday Show”, which sees the band releasing archival footage each week. Head to the WSP website for more information.
