Beloved musical brothers Oteil Burbridge (Dead & Company) and Kofi Burbridge (Tedeschi Trucks Band) have announced a very special yoga class, to take place in the afternoon of April 29th during Jazz Fest in New Orleans, LA. The Burbridges will head to Higher Power, a yoga studio just a short walk from the Fairgrounds of the main event, and participate in one of their yoga classes led by Taraleigh Weathers. The brothers will be providing the perfect musical soundtrack to flow with, followed by ample time for a meet and greet.
The Burbridge brothers have been hard at work lately, cutting a new album with Neal and Alan Evans of Soulive. The “Brothers” EP is sure to contain some serious funk that’s fun for the whole family. The Burbridges will also be on hand for the One Eyed Jacks tribute concert, hosted by The Nth Power in a tribute for Earth Wind & Fire. More about that show, which takes place late night on April 28th at the Howlin’ Wolf, can be found here.
Taraleigh’s class will be a gentle flow for everyone, regardless your level of practice. The class will focus on relaxing, grounding postures, to help stretch out your overworked dance muscles. The simple poses will give you the perfect opportunity to surrender to the flow and immerse yourself in the magic of some tantalizing live music. The class will end with a savasana of epic proportions, leaving you refreshed and ready to rock your JazzFest weekend.
The event will run from 2pm – 4pm at Higher Power, with the class running for 90 minutes followed by some quality time with the Burbridge brothers down in New Orleans. You can read more about the venue here, and find tickets to this class here.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will go towards the Water Collective, a non-profit aimed at providing clean water to impoverished parts of African and India.
