Organizers for the Tanglewood Popular Artists Series, which takes place at the renowned Tanglewood performance complex in Lenox, MA every summer, has shared the initial lineup of artists and orchestras set to perform for the 2020 season. Tanglewood is famously known around the New England region as the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra since 1937.

Revealed on Thursday, the 2020 Tanglewood season will open with a performance by Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band on June 19th. The following evening on June 20th, Trey Anastasio will team up with conductor Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops Orchestra for what will be a thrilling collaborative night of music featuring the Phish guitarist.

Judy Collins and Arlo Guthrie will also perform during the season’s opening weekend on June 21st. Other notable events as part of the Tanglewood’s 2020 season which popular music fans may find enticing include “The 20th anniversary of John Williams’ Film Night” with the acclaimed composer on August 15th, followed by Keith Lockhart and the Boston Pops performing the live accompaniment to Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back in sync with the film on August 21st.

Trey Anastasio Band will open 2020 with two performances at Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre on January 10th-11th. TAB will continue its run along the western U.S. and parts of Texas throughout the rest of January and into February before Anastasio reunites with Oysterhead for a pair of shows at 1STBANK Center in Broomfield, CO on February 14th-15th.

Tickets for the 2020 Tanglewood season, which runs from June 19th through August 30th, go on sale on February 9th at tanglewood.org.
