While their sophomore album Terra Firma still isn’t out until February 19th, that hasn’t stopped Tash Sultana from revisiting her 2020 single, “Pretty Lady”.

On Sunday, the Australian multi-instrumentalist shared a new studio jam of the song first released last April, which once again finds the 25-year-old Australian musician fulfilling each role in the song from guitar to drums to vocals to bass, and even more auxiliary effects beyond that. The new studio jam version of “Pretty Lady” allows Sultana to explore the musical space even more, while the song is still able to maintain the original, catchy hook. Given Sultana’s extended creative process with the song, it’s not surprising that they returned to it once more.

“I’ve been trying to figure out how to write this song for like six years,” Saltana previously said of the song. “I used to loop it and just freestyle to it when I was busking years ago, but I always got stuck on the same parts. I put the song in a box at the back of my mind and revisited it in November 2019. I had [collaborators] Dann [Hume] and Matt [Corby] spend some time in my studio and that’s when I decided to show them this song. It’s my first song I’ve collaborated with other players on.”

Back in November, Tash Sultana was allowed to play a live concert for 1,000 people at the Horden Pavillion in Sydney, Australia. The concert was noteworthy as the live events industry in Australia, like much of the world, remains subdued by the pandemic. The concert also marked Sultana’s final live looping show, according to a statement, and going forward she will adopt a full-band stage presence.
