New York-native rock-fusion quartet TAUK will gather a slew of talented friends in New Orleans during Jazz Fest for a Parliament-Funkadelic vs. Sly and the Family Stone celebration on Saturday, April 29th, 2023 at Toulouse Theatre.
Along with the core TAUK quartet—keyboardist Alric “A.C.” Carter, bassist Charlie Dolan, guitarist Matt Jalbert, and drummer Isaac Teel—the P-Funk vs. Family Stone blowout, presented by Live For Live Music and GMP Live, will feature special guests Kanika Moore (vocals, Doom Flamingo), Antwaun Stanley (vocals, Vulfpeck), and plug-and-play brass trio The Horn Section (Cool Cool Cool). Tickets are on sale now.
While this tribute to the two pioneering funk-soul acts is a new concept for TAUK, the band has established previous creative connections with all of the show’s special guests. The Horn Section’s Chris Brouwers, Josh Schwartz, and Greg Sanderson have collaborated live with TAUK on various occasions, including on an explosive cover of Beyoncé‘s “Crazy In Love” at North Beach Music Festival 2022. Kanika Moore has grown ever closer to TAUK since their earliest live collab at Electric Forest in 2018. A string of impactful joint performances at festivals around the country—including one with both Kanika and Antwaun at last year’s Mountain Music Festival 2022—has blossomed into a new combo project, TAUK Moore, which has been touring and writing original music.
Get excited for TAUK’s New Orleans blowout with a full video of the band’s recent Brooklyn performance featuring Kanika Moore below, which featured plenty of new original material in addition to covers ranging from the Allman Brothers Band to Led Zeppelin to Lauryn Hill.
