On Sunday night, Tedeschi Trucks Band continued their multi-band Wheels of Soul tour with Blackberry Smoke and Shovels and Rope with a performance at Aurora, IL’s RiverEdge Park.
After the opening sets, Derek Trucks, Susan Tedeschi, and their bandmates kicked off the one-set performance with a pairing of “Made Up Mind” and “Do I Look Worried”, the first two tracks on 2013’s Made Up Mind LP. Following “Hard Case” and “It’s So Heavy”, the 12-piece ensemble offered up their first cover of the night with Dr. John‘s “I Walk On Guilded Splinters”.
Tedeschi Trucks Band moved forward with the second Signs track of the night, “Shame”, before working their way through “Don’t Know What It Means”, highlighted by Susan’s soulful vocal lead. The band continued on with Charles Segar‘s “Key To The Highway” and Johnny Moore’s Three Blazers‘ “How Blue Can You Get”, which was followed up by “Bound For Glory”. Derek let it rip as he offered up a series of explosive slide solos before the band closed things out with “I Want More”.
Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to open up their three-song encore with “Signs, High Times” before closing things out with a pairing of Sly & The Family Stone‘s “Sing A Simple Song” and “I Want To Take You Higher”.
