On Tuesday night, Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to the Beacon Theatre after a few nights off to continue their annual six-night residency at the New York City venue. For the third show of their NYC run, the band continued their tradition of welcoming notable guests by treating the audience to sit-ins from guitarists Nels Cline and Luther Dickinson, and Amy Helm.

The evening got started with an opening set by Capitol Sun Rays, which features Helm and Dickinson alongside Birds of Chicago and Grahame Lesh. Following the opening set, TTB started their 16-song performance with a pair of originals in “I Want More” and “Do I Look Worried”, with Susan Tedeschi leading the way on vocals on both. The set continued with a cover of Bob Dylan‘s “Down in the Flood”, followed by more originals in “All the World” and “Part of Me”.

The band then welcomed their first guest of the night in Nels Cline who helped the band play on a cover of Derek and the Dominos‘ “Bell Bottom Blues”, just the second-ever Tedeschi Trucks Band rendition of the Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs track following their full-album performance at LOCKN’ with Trey Anastasio and Doyle Bramhall II. Cline remained on stage to help the band play through an exploratory “Idle Wind” before checking out for the evening.

Next, Luther Dickinson took the stage in Cline’s place to join Susan and Derek Trucks on an acoustic trio performance of “Mean Old World”. The entire band then returned for “Joyful Noise” followed by a cover of Charles Segar‘s “Key to the Highway” with Dickinson remaining on stage to play on both.

Following Dickinson’s departure, TTB continued with “Shame”, The Allman Brothers Band‘s “Don’t Keep Me Wonderin'”, “Made Up Mind”, and Bobby ‘Blue’ Bland‘s “I Pity the Fool” before leaving the stage for a few moments. They returned to start their two-song encore with help from Almy Helm for a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Going, Going, Gone”. The show came to a close with “Get What You Deserve”.
