Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to its home away from home on Thursday to open up a seven-night Beacon Theatre residency. The bulk of Thursday’s opening statement was made up by a full-album telling of I Am The Moon: III. The Fall.
Following an opening set from Amy Helm, Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi led their 12-piece ensemble onstage for the live debut of The Fall‘s opener “Somehow”. The band moved chronologically through the six-track installment of the four-part I Am The Moon project, with “None Above”, “Yes We Will”, Gabe Dixon‘s “Gravity”, “Emmaline”, and “Take Me As I Am” following.
Having completed The Fall, Trucks revisited his own storied history with the Beacon with a cover of The Allman Brothers Band instrumental “Les Brers in A Minor”. The covers continued with Derek & The Dominos‘ “Bell Bottom Blues” before a run through “Part of Me” off 2013’s Made Up My Mind. Following a take on Dr. John‘s “I Walk on Guilded Splinters”, TTB finished out the set with a string of originals including “Do I Look Worried”, “It’s So Heavy”, “Let Me Get By”, and finally “Made Up Mind”. Returning for the encore, the band dished out a double dose of covers with Taj Mahal‘s “Leaving Trunk” and The Coasters‘ “Let’s Go Get Stoned” to cap off the first of seven concerts.
