With summer over and fall settling in, that can only mean one thing: Tedeschi Trucks Band is back in New York City. The elite soul ensemble made their triumphant return to the Beacon Theatre in New York, NY last night, starting a run of six shows with a soul-stirring performance.
The band treated fans to an impressive array of covers and originals, pulling from the blues catalog as well as from their own albums. The show featured two debuts in Howlin’ Wolf’s “I’ve Been Abused” and Nina Simone’s “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free,” the latter of which featured a guest appearance by vocalist Amy Ray, who opened the show. Amy Ray also remained for the finale, a cover of Bob Dylan’s “You Ain’t Goin’ Nowhere.”
There were also great versions of classics by Derek & The Dominoes, Santana, Allen Toussaint, George Harrison, and more scattered throughout the performance. Check out a series of videos from the show, courtesy of Sean Roche.
