Tedeschi Trucks Band concluded its annual year-end residency at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston, MA on Saturday. The four-night run capped off a milestone year for the Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi-led outfit highlighted by the release of the monumental four-part audio-visual epic I Am The Moon.

After kicking off the run by playing the first part of I Am The Moon in its entirety, Tedeschi Trucks Band continued to draw from the project while mixing it up with other originals and covers of a broad range of artists, from John Prine to Harry Styles. The band selected a few tracks from I Am The Moon: II. Acension including “Playing With My Emotions”, “Ain’t That Something”, and “La Di Da” for the first set of night two, suggesting a pattern the group would abandon by night four. The set also included covers of “Keep On Growing” by Derek and the Dominos and “Done Somebody Wrong” by Elmore James.

Set two featured more covers—”Outside Woman Blues” (Blind Joe Reynolds), “Angel From Montgomery” (John Prine), “Sugaree” (Jerry Garcia), and “Soul Sacrifice” (Santana) among them—as well as a couple tracks from I Am The Moon: IV. Farewell, including a set-opening “Last Night in the Rain” and “Where Are My Friends?”, and other originals. For the encore, the band played “Space Captain” by Matthew Moore.

TTB kept up the pattern on night three, including two songs from I Am The Moon: III. The Fall—”Somehow” and “Take Me as I Am”—but only after opening the set with “Don’t Let Me Slide”, “Laugh About It”, “When Will I Begin”, and covers of The Allman Brothers Band‘s “Stand Back” and Mike Mattison‘s “Life Is Crazy”. Set two again featured more covers including “Suzanne” by Leonard Cohen, “Gin House Blues” by Bessie Smith, “Anyday” by Derek and the Dominos, and “I Pity the Fool” by Bobby “Blue” Bland. A triumphant “Bound For Glory”, off 2011’s Revelator, took the encore position.

The band opened night four with The Beatles‘ “I Got A Feeling”, followed by a string of mostly repeats from previous nights including “Playing With My Emotions”, “Gravity”, “I Am The Moon”, and “Pasaquan”. The band closed the set with “River” by Joni Mitchell, which it debuted during last year’s Orpheum Theatre residency.

Set two, the final set of the run, featured additional repeats and some crowd-pleasing covers including the recently debuted “Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles and fan-favorite set closer “Whipping Post” by The Allman Brothers Band. The band capped off the residency—and the year—with a two-song encore, both covers: “Fire and Rain” by James Taylor and “Show Me” by Joe Tex
