Last night, Tedeschi Trucks Band‘s 2018 Wheels of Soul tour kept turning with a stop in the Finger Lakes at Canandaigua, NY’s Constellation Brands-Marvin Sands Performing Arts Center, commonly known as CMAC.
After the tour’s customary performances by The Marcus King Band and Drive-By Truckers, Tedeschi Trucks Band took the stage for their headlining set, working through tour staples like Derek and the Dominos‘ “Keep On Growing”, “Laugh About It”, “Just As Strange”, “Don’t Know What It Means”, “Shame”, “Midnight In Harlem”, and Bob Dylan‘s “Down In The Flood”.
From there, the band welcomed Marcus King and his band onstage to help them through Joe Tex‘s “Show Me”, a song that’s become a mainstay in TTB’s sets this tour after a five-year hiatus following its debut in 2013. Marcus King Band keyboardist Deshawn “D’Vibes” Alexander remained onstage for “Let Me Get By”, adding extra texture to the title track from TTB’s lauded 2016 studio album.
Next, Susan Tedeschi welcomed Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley of Drive-By Truckers for a pair of tunes. First up was Dylan’s “Going, Going, Gone”, making its third straight TTB performance after its debut on July 7th in New Hampshire. Finally, the Tedeschi Trucks Band debut of Neil Young classic “Rockin’ In The Free World” closed the set on a high note. The band returned for their encore with Let Me Get By workhorse “I Want More” before moving into a thrilling, rare rendition of the Allman Brothers Band‘s “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed” to close the show.
