The Allman Brothers have announced the dates of their notorious annual multi-show run at NYC’s Beacon Theatre. The legendary rock band will play 10 shows between March 1st-16th, 2013.
“The Beacon run is always magical,” said front man Gregg Allman, according to a press release, “The room sounds great, lots of familiar faces and the band really stretches out. After Macon, New York is really our second home. There’s something about it, and our fans know it.”
The band, consisting of Gregg Allman (vocals/keyboards), Butch Trucks (drums/tympani), Jaimoe (drums), Warren Haynes (vocals/guitar), Derek Trucks (guitar), Oteil Burbridge (bass), and Marc Quinones (congas/percussion), has been doing the Beacon run since 1989. Over 210 of these shows have sold out since the start of this tradition, and die-hard Allman fans consider these shows as “a rite of passage”.
Guests that have been invited to join the band in NYC include Eric Clapton, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Widespread Panic, and Kid Rock to name a few.
Tickets for the Beacon run go on sale January 11th either at www.ticketmaster.com or www.beacontheatre.com. The Beacon box office will start selling tickets January 12th (if still available).
Bummed you can’t make it to any of those shows? Don’t fret! The group has also been invited to play Eric Clapton’s “Crossroads” benefit show April 12th-13th at MSG and are set to headline two nights at the Wanee Festival in Live Oak, Florida April 19th-20th.
