Americana-bluegrass-jam collective The High Hawks returned on Friday with the band’s second-ever single, “Singing A Mountain Song”. Featuring members of Leftover SalmonRailroad Earth, Great American TaxiHorseshoes & Hand Grenades, and more, the spirit of mountain music flows through The High Hawks like a cool sierra stream.

Featuring Vince Herman (Leftover Salmon), Tim Carbone (Railroad Earth), Chad Staehly (Hard Working Americans),  Adam Greuel (Horseshoes & Hand Grenades), Brian Adams (DeadPhish Orchestra), and Will Trask (Great American Taxi), The High Hawks have over 150 years of touring experience to draw from. That tenure is a clear source of inspiration for “Singing A Mountain Song” which, alongside a slideshow of stills from days past and journeys taken, rings of a nostalgic tone of reminiscence.

The High Hawks first formed two years ago when these live music stalwarts finally picked a date to get together after years of seeing each other backstage and onstage. With the scenic Colorado Rockies surrounding Herman’s house serving as inspiration, the group got down to business and started jotted down songs—all while managing to still enjoy the ride all along the way. The resulting baker’s dozen of songs carried the band through their first shows together in fall 2019. Now, the band is ready to release them into the world with its self-titled debut album, out on June 11th via LoHi Records.

Listen to The High Hawks’ latest single, “Singing A Mountain Song”, as well as the band’s debut release, “Heroes & Highways“, which premiered earlier this month via Live For Live Music. Keep an eye on LoHi Records for forthcoming pre-order information for The High Hawks.
