One of the biggest announcements on the summer music festival circuit this year was the teaming up of MCP Presents and SFX Entertainment to bring The Hudson Project to Winston Farms in Saugerties, NY (the site of Woodstock ’94) the weekend of July 11th-13th. With a diverse, genre-spanning lineup, The Hudson Project promises to bring the Northeast region a music festival with not only some of the industries heaviest hitters, but also some of the hottest up and coming acts in the scene, as well as plenty of festival veterans that know exactly what to bring to a party of this magnitude.

With big names such as Bassnectar, Kendrick Lamar, Modest Mouse, The Flaming Lips, Moby, Big Gigantic, Capital Cities, Excision, Matt & Kim, and Flying Lotus joining the likes of festival veterans STS9, Conspirator, a reunited the New Deal, Lettuce, Infected Mushroom, Paper Diamond, Bonobo, Emanciaptor, Savoy, Soul Rebels, and what is sure to be eye-opening sets from Dr. Dog, Holy Ghost!, Nightmares on Wax, Tipper, Marco Beneveno Trio, Twiddle, and Tauk, among many others, this is a lineup that was created for the music fan with a taste for all that live music has to offer.

For festival-goers, there are several different ticketing and camping options to choose from on the majestic Winston Farms (click here for ticket options). Along with your standard GA Camping pass (which needs to be purchased in addition to your festival pass), The Hudson Project offers those without proper camping equipment several options for when you arrive to the gates and check-in, including EZ Tents, DIY Camping Gear, and Glamping (check here for details). What is also offered for those in need of transporation, THP has various shuttle options (from NYC, Albany, Burlington, Philadelphia, and Boston), along with Daily Round Trip Shuttles, and Train Station Shuttles.

The Hudson Valley is known for its culinary excellence, and The Hudson Project will feature food and beverages from the region at the festival. Also, expect some serious art installations to be present at the festival, making your journeys around the grounds a visual adventure. As always, keeping the grounds clean and pristine is of the utmost priority. While Clean Vibes will be on site, keeping up with the amount of waste that adds up when thousands of people gather for 3 days, it truly is up to you to make sure all waste ends up in its proper place, namely in garbage bags and recycling bags. Make sure your cigarette butts and bottle caps don’t end up stuck in the grass (they are small and are the most difficult pieces of trash to see). DO THE RIGHT THING!

Festival founders have commented on the motivation behind the festival. Brett Keber, co-founder of MCP Presents said, “Our goal with The Hudson Project was the creation of a music and arts festival that also highlighted the beautiful area where the modern music festival genre was born. By offering camping with a genre diverse lineup ranging from Rock to Pop, Hip Hop to Electronic and more, we’re hoping to offer a great local option in the U.S. festival market.”

Michael Lang, one of the founders of the original Woodstock, shared his excitement to have a festival coming back to the area:

“I’m very excited to be bringing live music events back to the Winston Farms and the Saugerties & Woodstock area,” Lang said. “It was always my intention to make a permanent venue at the farm after the ’94 festival and it’s finally coming to fruition. The Hudson Project will be a wonderful addition to the valley.”

Early Bird tickets start at $199 for a three-day GA pass; $229 for an Early Bird three-Day GA with camping; $499 for Early Bird three-day VIP package; and $749 for Early Bird Platinum VIP Package.  Parking choices range from a weekend overnight car pass to a weekend RV spot.  Park & Ride (with free 24-hour shuttle) is $15 for a weekend pass.  Long distance shuttle prices range from $50-$100.  Full details on all these options, can be found at www.hudsonmusicproject.com.
