The Lumineers continued their ongoing III: The World Tour with a performance at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY on Thursday night. Spanning over five months, III: The World Tour will see the band make their way around the U.S. and Canada in support of their latest album, 2019’s III.
J.S. Ondara, a Kenyan singer-songwriter whose debut Tales of America album received critical acclaim in 2019, opened the show. A string trio backed Ondara as he sang on the Barclays Center stage for the very first time. The Los Angeles-native indie rockers, Mt. Joy, followed Ondara and have already supported The Lumineers for several dates on the tour.
Following both opening sets, guitarist/vocalist Wesley Schultz and multi-instrumentalist Jeremiah Fraites led the rest of the band—comprised of Lauren Jacobson (violin), Stelth Ulvang (piano), Byron Isaacs (bass/vocals), and Brandon Miller—to the stage.
Throughout the one-set show, they played originals new and old in addition to some select covers. Songs off their III album, such as “Jimmy Sparks” and “Democracy”, were complimented by older originals like Cleopatra‘s “Ophelia”. Additionally, they managed to work a cover of Bob Dylan‘s “Subterranean Homesick Blues” into the fold.

The Lumineers are back at the Barclays Center tonight (2/14) before heading to John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, VA on Sunday. From there they will head west before a trip north of the border. Visit their website for tickets and more tour information.
