The Motet enjoys a bit of funk in the sun with the band’s newest member, singer Sarah Clarke, on the new single “Natural Light”.
“Natural Light” arrives as the first in a batch of new studio songs from The Motet. The fresh summer anthem, with lyrics written by Clarke along with keyboardist Joey Porter, sounds both new and timeless, blending influences of classic ’70s funk, ’90s R&B, and The Motet’s signature groove with Clarke’s powerful yet smooth vocals.
“Natural Light is an anthem to get you through the dark months, something that pumps you full of nostalgic joy,” Clarke said. “When Joey and I were working on lyrics for this tune, we were thinking of summertime parties, sitting on the lawn with the sprinkler going, listening to neighbors laugh and play music, floating on the river with a cooler of ice cold bevies behind you…all the things that make summer great, the things we start dreaming of in December. Summer is almost over and, for those of us who struggle with the winter months, this song is a bop to remind you that the sun will be back!”
