The Motet – Stage 48 – Thursday, April 25th
The Motet will be bringing their cross-genre breeding style of funk and dance music to NYC’s Stage 48 on Thursday, April 25th. With a style that finds its roots in Afrobeat, Funk, Jazz, and Samba, and layering some House and Techno vibes into the mix, expect a night of some serious getdown. And make sure to wear a pair of comfy shoes, because you will are going to be on your feet all night long.
Making their home base in Colorado, The Motet was founded by drummer Dave Watts over ten years ago, and features keyboardist Joey Porter (who hosted a killer jam session in The Jam Room on Jam Cruise this year), Ryan Jalbert (guitar), Garrett Sayers (bass), Gabe Mervine (trumpet), Matt Pitts (tenor sax), and vocalists Jans Ingber, Kim Dawson, and Paul Creighton. Six albums later, and The Motet is finding their groove quite nicely, with a sound that they describe simply has the “resolve to evolve.”
Coming off two standout sets on this year’s Jam Cruise, The Motet is on fire right now. And with two full sets, expect plenty of free-form improvisational gobs of textured, hard driving beats. This is a show that you will not want to miss! And at the newly opened Stage 48, with its state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems, get ready to have an eargasm.
