Years in the making, The National’s Day Of The Dead tribute album is due out in just a week and a half, on May 20th. The album features 59 tracks from a diverse array of artists, including Flaming Lips, Bruce Hornsby, Courtney Barnett, The War On Drugs and so many more. In anticipation of the new release, the band took the stage at The Late Show With Stephen Colbert to perform a selection.

The band played “Morning Dew,” one of the few tracks on the album that features just The National. The band served as the backing group for certain artists throughout the release, but this version is all The National, and they bring the song to life. While “Dew” wasn’t written by the Dead – that credit goes to Bonnie Dobson – the band certainly made it their own by performing it hundreds of times over.
