The Stooges are preparing for the release of a new box set commemorating 50 years since their groundbreaking album Fun House hit shelves in July 1970. The collection will be released on June 17th via Rhino, and will include all seven tracks from Fun House, newly remastered and pressed onto vinyl at 45 rpm.

In addition to the original recordings, the complete studio sessions, which Rhino released as a seven-CD box set in 1999, will also be cut onto vinyl for the first time.

The entire box set comes to an impressive 15 LP collection, including two 7-inch singles of “Down On The Street”/”I Feel Alright”, in two different mixes. The Fun House box set will also feature an entire 39-minute performance of the band’s August 17th, 1970 performance in New York City on vinyl. Avid Stooges fans may already be familiar with the audio as it was released in 2010 under the monicker Have Some Fun: Live At Ungano’s.

In addition to a bevy of music, the remastered Fun House collection will also feature a 28-page booklet featuring liner notes, rare photos, and words from musicians who were influenced by The Stooges including an essay from Henry Rollins, and contributions from Flea, Joan Jett, Tom Morello, Thurston Moore, Steven Van Zandt, Duff McKagan, and more.

The collector’s item also includes plenty of other non-audible goodies, including a poster, slipmat, 45 adapter, and more. The box sets will be individually numbered and production will be limited to only 1,970 units, in celebration of the year of the album’s release.

Third Man Records will also host a temporary exhibit dedicated to Fun House at its location in the Cass Corridor neighborhood of Detroit, MI, running from July 17th through August 7th. The exhibit will be complete with personal items from band members as well as other musical memorabilia, and is free to attend and open to the public.
