The String Cheese Incident returned to Dillon Amphitheater on Wednesday to close out a two-night run at the scenic outdoor venue as part of a five-show run in Colorado.

As opposed to the lightning that delayed the start of Tuesday’s program, Wednesday was all sunshine and smiles as String Cheese opened the show with a sprawling “One Stop Closer” that found its way into “Close Your Eyes”. Tranquil runs through “Gone Crooked” and “Pygmy Pony” came next before the band hooked up a “Got What He Wanted”, “Far From Home”, and “Tinder Box” for a train of segues that took plenty of improvisational detours to close the set.

Coming back for the second frame, Cheese eased audiences in with a “Land’s End” that soon gave way to a particularly spacey breakdown noted on nugs as “Big Hoopinman Jam”. The music kept on rolling with a segue into “Glory Chords” and an expansive “Shantytown” before an equally exploratory “Valley Of The Jig” led to the first stoppage in play of the set.

Following a brief, well-deserved respite, The String Cheese Incident picked right back up with “Illegal” before spreading out into a nearly 20-minute “It Is What It Is”, only to be followed by the fellow jam vehicle “Black Clouds”. Cheese then ended the second set with the all-out dance party of “Rosie”. Returning one last time to the Dillon Amphitheater stage, Cheese opted for a healthy “Shakin’ The Tree” to finish up the two-night stand.
