Recently, beloved Phish lyricist Tom Marshall launched a new podcast series called “Under The Scales,” analyzing various components of the band’s following from his unique perspective. A childhood friend of guitarist Trey Anastasio, Marshall is credited as lyricist on dozens of tracks by the acclaimed Vermont quartet.

The series launched with three episodes, including an introductory episode as well as closer looks into a famed songwriting weekend and fans who ride the rail. Tapers certainly serve an incredibly important role within the live music community, and bands like the Grateful Dead, Phish, and now countless others have embraced the audio sharers.

Says Marshall in his episode description, “Co-hosts RJ and Jonathan and I take a DEEP DIVE into Tapers. Tapers are a huge part of Phish’s history…but what are they? Who are they? Let’s find out. Take a deep breath and jump in with us.” You can stream the episode below.
