People are inspired to do some weird things during the holiday season. Late December is an unusual time of the year, when cousins across the country pretend to like each other and fruit cake is—for sickening reasons this writer will never understand—permitted to remain on the party snack menu.

One Toronto family took it upon themselves to kick the overall strangeness of the season up a notch by recreating the Beastie Boys‘ “Intergalactic” as their own, incredibly imaginative holiday card.

In an epic holiday experiment that has since gone viral, “Mother of the Year” candidate Angela Young and her kids dressed up as members of the famous hip-hop group and used some impressive editing to match the style of the original video for the 1998 hit single. Footage of their seasonal video tribute was filmed in various locations around Toronto, including the city’s underground subway, Union Station, and Yonge-Dundas Square.
