On Saturday night’s episode of Saturday Night Live, young hip-hop star Travis Scott joined the cast at 30 Rockefeller Plaza for as the show’s customary musical guest in support his critically acclaimed third album, ASTROWORLD. However, while it was Scott’s name on the episode’s “Musical Guest” billing, he was not the only high-profile artist to take the stage for his performances.

For his medley of ASTROWORLD tracks “Skeletons” and “Astrothunder”, Travis Scott brought along a pair of familiar though relatively unexpected band members to fill out the tunes’ spacey ambiance: John Mayer and Tame Impala‘s Kevin Parker. While fans of John Mayer and Tame Impala may not be totally familiar with the rapper’s work, their appearance during his performance is not completely surprising. Both Mayer and Parker contributed Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD, with Tame Impala credited as a producer (and Kevin Parker as a songwriter) on “Skeletons” and Mayer listed as one of several producers on the album’s “Wake Up”. Later in the show, Travis Scott returned for a fully tripped-out performance of his hit single, “Sicko Mode”, this time without a band, but with plenty of mind-bending production quality. You can check out that performance below:

Saturday’s episode of Saturday Night Live also featured an amusing segment commenting on the previous week’s uncomfortable appearance by Kanye West who, as surely everyone knows by now, has been very vocal with some of his… um… interesting… opinions of late. Following West’s MAGA hat–clad pro-Trump rant at the end of last week’s taping, cast member Pete Davidson—who’s dealt with his own struggles with mental health—appeared on the show’s “Weekend Update” segment to give his thoughts on the uncomfortable scene last week. After a highly entertaining monologue about the ordeal, Davidson unveiled a new MAGA-style lid he designed in the aftermath of Ye’s Saturday Night Live stint—the ubiquitous red hat emblazoned with the words “Make Kanye 2006 Again.” Watch the clip below:
