On Saturday night, Trey Anastasio Band returned to Denver, CO’s Mission Ballroom for the second night of their weekend run.

Trey Anastasio and his band—comprised of Russ Lawton (drums), Tony Markellis (bass), Cyro Baptista (percussion), Ray Paczkowski (keys), Jennifer Hartswick (trumpet, vocals), Natalie Cressman (trombone, vocals), and James Casey (saxophones, vocals)—opened up the first set with “Sweet Dreams Melinda” before diving into “Sidewalks Of San Francisco”, with the latter played for the first time since 2017. Trey and his musical comrades moved forward with a horn-heavy take on “Blaze On”, which was followed up by Ana Tijoux‘s “1977”, allowing Cressman a chance to dazzle the crowd with her bilingual hip-hop skills. TAB continued with a hard-hitting pairing of Phish‘s “46 Days” and “Camel Walk” before slowing things down and sliding into “The Way I Feel”. Trey offered up some scorching guitar solos backed by Markellis’ steady groove. Following “The Way I Feel”, Trey led his bandmates through high-energy takes on “Sometimes After Sunset” and “Last Tube” before closing out the first frame with a powerful “Rise/Come Together”.

Following a brief setbreak, the eight-piece returned to open up their second set with “Simple Twist Up Dave”, which was followed up by “Drifting” and “Spin”. TAB continued on with lively takes on “Heavy Things”, “Plasma”, “Burlap Sack and Pumps”, and “Night Speaks To A Woman” before diving into a bubbly “Undermind”. Trey let it rip as he locked in with the attentive Denver crowd and fired off a series of tasty guitar licks. Moving out of the exploratory “Undermind”, the band worked through “Ether Sunday” before closing out their set with “First Tube”. Trey returned to the stage with Casey, Cressman, and Hartswick to open up the encore with “The Parting Glass”, an acapella tune that the band played regularly during their 2017 Paper Wheels tour. As he did the night prior, Trey picked up his acoustic guitar and offered up a solo rendition of “More” before closing out the show with “Push On ‘Til The Day”.
