Trey Anastasio Band and Goose continued their joint tour—dubbed the TABoose Tour—on Saturday with a sold-out show at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. The third concert of the groups’ co-headlining tour featured a number of collaborations, including a blowout “Carini” encore performed by all of both bands.

The crowd was buzzing with anticipation as Goose kicked off the evening with a high-energy, guitar-driven “Animal”. Guitarist Rick Mitarotonda took the lead once more on a rollicking “Flodown”, which was followed by “Arrow”, the first song from the band’s most recent album, Dripfield, to appear in a setlist this tour. “Arrow” gave way to a cover of Bob Seger‘s “Hollywood Nights” before the band made its way back to the end of the Dripfield track. Multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach joined Rick on guitar for the album’s title track.

Goose then welcomed the TAB horn section—trumpet player Jennifer Hartswick, trombonist Natalie Cressman, and saxophonist James Casey—to sit in on “Fish in the Sea” by Fat Freddy’s Drop. The collaborative cover featured impressive interaction between Casey and Mitarotonda, supported by Trevor Weekz‘s driving bass groove.

The audience erupted as Trey emerged on stage to join Goose for a set-closing “Factory Fiction”—a tune originally written by Mitarotonda for his pre-Goose project Vasudo. The Phish guitarist traded wailing solos with Mitarotonda to cap off a memorable first set.

Trey Anastasio Band kicked off its set with fan favorite “Sand”, the first repeat of the tour, followed by an upbeat “Shine” and a rocking “Twist”. After a run through the Afro-Cuban-inspired “Mozambique”, the TAB horn section had a chance to shine once again, this time as vocalists on the tour debut of “Night Speaks to a Woman”.

Trey then calmed things down a little with “Mercy” before moving on to a dynamic “Undermind”. Next came “…And Flew Away”, from Trey’s Lonely Trip quarantine album, and “Pigtail”.

Trey showcased his guitar chops once more on “About to Run”, with bassist Dezron Douglas holding down the groove. “Push On ‘Til The Day” was the final song before Mitarotonda and Anspach returned to the stage to sit in on “No Men in No Man’s Land”. The jam featured more dueling guitar leads from Anastasio and Mitarotonda with support from the air-tight rhythm section of Douglas and drummer Russ Lawton. The Goose members remained on stage for a set-closing “46 Days”, capping off the main frame with a Phish fan favorite.

After a short break, Trey returned to the stage and announced “sometimes you just need two bassists” as he welcomed all of Goose to join TAB for a collaborative “Carini” encore. With every musician from both bands playing together at the same time, the blowout show closer celebrated the collaborative spirit of the tour—not so much a passing of the torch as a reminder that one flame can ignite another without being diminished, and the results are bound to be luminous.
