Trey Anastasio Band continued their four-night run through the Southeast on Wednesday night with a performance at St. Augustine Amphitheatre in sunny St. Augustine, FL.

The night began with a beach-appropriate “Sand” followed by “Burn That Bridge”, marking the tune’s second appearance in as many nights after it was dusted off on Tuesday in St. Petersburg for the first time since 2017. A bouncy “Magilla” was up next, followed by a take on TAB/Phish crossover tune “Everything’s Right”. Spirited renditions of “Pigtail”, “Curlew’s Call”, “Dark and Down”, and “Rise/Come Together” rounded out the first set.

The second set got underway with “Night Speaks To A Woman”, followed by “Alive Again”, “Simple Twist-Up Dave”, and “Heavy Things”. As the dust settled after the ensuing “Set Your Soul Free” jam, Trey brought his three-piece horn section of Jennifer HartswickNatalie Cressman, and James Casey to center stage to harmonize with him on bittersweet Ghosts of the Forest lament “Brief Time” as Cyro Baptista kept time on tambourine. Marking just the second time this song has made the jump to a TAB show, this beautiful arrangement is a wonderful counterpart to the solo acoustic version Trey used to open his nightly encore during this spring’s Ghosts of the Forest tour.

The show continued from there with energetic takes on “Valentine”, “Plasma”, “Goodbye Head”, “Blaze On”, and a set-closing “Tuesday”. Finally, the band returned to the stage with Hartswick on lead vocals for their fan-favorite rendition of Gorillaz‘ “Clint Eastwood” before laying down a raucous take on go-to closer “First Tube”.
