On Friday night, Trey Anastasio kicked off Trey Anastasio Band’s fall tour with a performance at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas. Paying tribute to the victims of the recent concert mass shooting in the city, Trey Anastasio Band first offered an a capella rendition of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”, also featuring the group’s horn section of Jennifer Hartswick, Natalie Cressman, and James Casey on vocals, marking the first time the band has ever performed the number.

As confirmed by JamBase, the rest of the band joined in for the debut of a new original called “Set Your Soul Free”, which saw Anastasio on lead vocals while Hartwick locked down supporting vocals. The new original number similarly shares the vibe of a number of recent Trey tunes, with its positive message falling in line with “Everything’s right” and “Rise/Come Together”. While the rest of the Trey Anastasio Band show last night featured more typical TAB fare, for the band’s encore, Trey Anastasio Band returned with yet another new original called “Soul Planet”—making the show a “Soul Sandwich” with the debut of “Set Your Soul Free” at its start and “Soul Planet” at its end.
