Both Dave Matthews Band and Phish have worked under Red Light Management, a company headed and founded by Coran Capshaw. On November 2nd, Trey Anastasio, Dave Matthews, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, and Joseph will all travel to Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, for the 2017 Spirit Of Life Gala dubbed Music, Hope & Healing, where Capshaw will receive City Of Hope’s Spirit Of Life award. While the event has not yet announced whether Anastasio and Matthews will collaborate at the gala, it would not necessarily be out of line for the duo. Dave Matthews and Trey Anastasio have previously performed together in the past, with Dave Matthews Band securing a rare support gig for Phish in 1994. As individual musicians, Trey Anastasio previously toured with Dave Matthews & Friends in 2003 and 2004, plus Anastasio sat-in with Dave Matthews Band on August 14th, 2007, at SPAC in Saratoga Springs, New York.

After owning Charlottesville venue Trax, Coran Capshaw went on to manage Dave Matthews Band regularly seeing the group during their weekly gigs at his venue. Following Dave Matthews Band’s ascent to become a prolific, world-renowned act, and Capshaw and his company Red Light Management picked up a number of other beloved bands including Phish, Primus, Ween, Lionel Richie, and more. Capshaw also helped found Bonnaroo and has picked up a number of additional honors over the years, including Billboard’s Humanitarian Award and three Personal Manager Of The Year awards.
