In a comical new video shared by SiriusXM on Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio‘s birthday, Trey jokingly discusses the possibilities of a “Repeat Tour” with Phish Radio host Ari Fink.

Widely known for both their ever-changing setlists and their troll-like antics, Trey’s amusing idea would see Phish buck the former to lean head-first into the latter—they’d play the exact same show each night, down to minute details like stage banter.

The one-minute video shared by SiriusXM Phish Radio (channel 29) strings short clips of Trey horsing around in the satellite radio channel’s offices. Trey begins by saying,

The Groundhog Day tour. That’d be unbelievable.

He continues,

We’ve talked about doing the same show exactly with every word of banter verbatim and walking across the stage… the water falls off and Mike [Gordon] picks it up—everything. Every single detail, exactly the same.

Trey adds,

If it was three laughs the first night. Ha Ha Ha. It’s gotta be three the second night.

Ha Ha Ha. Hey Page [McConnell] you want to sing one? Yea I sure do. Ha Ha Ha.

How about a whole tour of that?

This is far from the first time we’ve heard about the members of Phish amusing themselves with outlandish ideas to keep their fans on their toes. If you haven’t before, check out the video of the band discussing their plans for “The Long Gig” from the Clifford Ball DVD bonus footage. That open-ended gig may not have come to fruition, although Big Cypress came pretty close. Then, of course, there was that crazy idea they had years ago to play a run of shows based on donut flavors. We all know how that one turned out…

Ahead of their annual New Year’s run at Madison Square Garden, Phish will head out on a seven-date fall tour. The November/December run will begin on November 29th and 30th with a performance at Providence, RI’s Dunkin’ Donuts Center. From there, the band will head to Long Island’s Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on December 1st. After a December 4th performance at Pittsburgh, PA’s Petersen Events Center, the band will head down to North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, SC for a three-night run on December 6th, 7th, and 8th.

At the ripe age of 55 (happy birthday, Trey!), Anastasio’s enthusiasm when discussing Phish and the band’s fanbase only seems to grow as the years roll on. Who knows what the future tour may bring. Phans planning on hitting all seven shows may be thrown into a vortex of never-ending repeats. Only time will tell…
