Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio recently wrapped up an eleven-date solo acoustic tour. This fall solo run was special for a number of reasons. It made stops in various beautiful, old theaters like Geneva, NY’s Smith Opera House; Dayton, OH’s Victoria Theatre; Milwaukee, WI’s Riverside Theater; Minneapolis, MN’s State Theatre; Eau Claire, WI’s The Pablo Center at the Confluence; Canton, OH’s Palace Theatre; Ann Arbor, MI’s Michigan Theater; Indianapolis, IN’s Murat Theatre; Nashville, TN’s Ryman Auditorium; and legendary Carnegie Hall in New York, NY. It featured some notable additions to the acoustic repertoire, like songs from Ghosts of the ForestOysterhead, and across the Phish/TAB songbooks.

However, what made these intimate shows truly special, as always, was Storytime with Trey. More often than not, the highlight of a given Trey Anastasio acoustic show is not musical at all, but rather a trip down memory lane by way of a tales from years past. As the tour went on, we did our best to highlight Trey’s stories from each show (click the venue names above to see the full recaps). Some of our favorites included a plea to reunite the original Talking Heads, the tale of how Jon Fishman got drunk with the Curveball mimes after the festival was canceled, and the stoned saga of Phish’s Neil Young and Willie Nelson collabs at Farm Aid two decades ago.

All of the shows are now up on LivePhish for you to dive into, but just in case you want to get right down to Storytime, this video is for you—a streamlined compilation of all the Trey stories from the recent tour, all strung together for your listening pleasure courtesy of 215Music. Grab your snacks and blanket, take a seat on the floor, and let Trey Anastasio regale you with all the stories you heard (or missed) on this year’s fall acoustic tour:
