Last year, nine-piece funk machine Turkuaz went acoustic for their outdoor live sessions in Miami, FL, as part of the Sugarshack Sessions performance series. The audio from those 2019 outdoor acoustic performances was recorded and is now revisited on the band’s new Turkuaz Live At Sugarshack Sessions EP, out today via Sugarshack Records.
The six-track album includes their acoustic renditions of “Life In The City”, “European Festivity Nightmare”, “The Question”, “Desert Island”, “TipToe Through The Crypto”, and “Pickin’ Up”.
“Performing these songs acoustically definitely felt more vulnerable,” singer/guitarist Dave Brandwein said of the band’s latest release. “There’s something about having a blaring, hard-hitting force of a band performing alongside you while singing that takes some of the pressure off. But then again, with the vulnerability of the acoustic atmosphere comes a greater awareness and a more emotional connection to the music.”
