On Saturday night, Twiddle and Aqueous returned to Playstation Theater for the second and final night for their New York City run, welcoming a slew of talented guests for a celebratory blowout. The night began with a stellar opening set by Buffalo groove-rock favorites Aqueous, including a rendition of Paul McCartney hit “Band On The Run” featuring Twiddle’s Zdenek Gubb on bass and Evan McPhaden on acoustic guitar. Next, Twiddle took the stage for a an “unplugged” first set which saw the Vermont favorites run through “Dusk ‘Til Dawn,” “BBQ,” “Subconscious Prelude,” and “Glycerine Medley.”

Twiddle’s second of three sets opened with an extended “Gatsby The Great,” featuring a tease of Bela Fleck & the Flecktones‘ “Big Country.” PLUMP Chapter One’s “Polluted Beauty” followed, featuring guest sit-ins by Trey Anastasio Band’s James Casey on saxophone and Enrique Sanchez on trumpet. The band closed out set two with the debut of their new original “Milk,” featuring Aqueous guitarist Mike Gantzer. Even after and acoustic set and an improv-heavy three-song second frame, Twiddle had a few more tricks up their sleeve for their final set of the run. The band opened the set by welcoming Turkuaz vocalist Shira Elias for a funky rendition of The Jackson 5‘s “I Want You Back.” Next, the band debuted a pair of new tunes from their upcoming album Plump Chapter II, “Nicodemus Portulay” and “Fat Country Baby.” You can watch crowd-shot footage of “I Want You Back” with Shira Elias below thanks to YouTube user Will Jacobson:

After the back-to-back debuts, Twiddle brought out teenage guitar prodigy Brandon “Taz” Niederauer for “Mamunes The Faun,” which saw Mihali Savoulidis and the young axe man trade blistering riffs to the delight of the crowd. Check out crowd-shot video of the sit-in below via YouTube user Adam Zapple:

Next, James Casey returned to the stage to assist the band on a run through “Be There,” before Enrique Sanchez once again joined the fray for a horn-laden “Latin Tang” set closer. Finally, the band returned  with Mike Gantzer and Shira Elias in tow for a passionate encore rendition of Leonard Cohen classic “Hallelujah.”
