On Saturday, Twiddle made a stop at Brooklyn Steel in the northern neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn, where they welcomed fans into the warehouse-turned-music venue to celebrate one of, if not the best holidays of the year, 4/20. As previously announced, the jam band from Vermont was joined during a portion of their special three-set performance on the joyous holiday by renowned pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph and guitarist Brandon “Taz” Niederauer.
The night began with Twiddle starting their marathon show with “Dinner Fork” into “Nicodemus Portulay”, a pair of tunes from their 2017 PLUMP Chapter 2 LP. They continued right into “The Box” before returning to “Dinner Fork” to close out the opening three-song segue. The rock quartet kept the show rolling with “River Drift” before being joined by their first guest of the night in Niederauer, who came out to play on “Lose in the Cold” to close out the first set. Fans can watch the video below to relive the first few tunes from the show’s opening set on Saturday.
Twiddle – Set I Opener – 4/20/2019
The show’s second set opened up with a segue of Twiddle fan-favorites beginning with “Jamflowman” and transitioning into “Frankenfoote”, which also continued right on into “Apples” before returning to “Frankenfoote”. Niederauer then returned to the stage to join the group in performing “Syncopated Healing”, another tune off Twiddle’s PLUMP LP, before continuing with a two-song combination of “Hatti’s Jam” into “When It Rains It Pours”. Fans can also check out the video below to relive the opening songs from the second part of the band’s 4/20 performance.
Twiddle – Set II Opener – 4/20/2019
Following another smoke/set break, the band returned to the stage for the third portion of Saturday’s performance by opening the set with help from Randolph on “Latin Tang”. Randolph would go on to remain in action with the band throughout the entire third set. Together, the group kept the energy going with “Mamunes the Faun”, “Drifter”, “Every Soul”, and “Who Do You Love?”. The set came to a climactic end with the performance of “Barbeque”. Amazingly, Twiddle had the energy to return to the stage with their special guests for a two-song encore with Randolph beginning with “Milk” and finally closing out with a cover of Bob Dylan‘s “All Along The Watchtower”.
Twiddle will head out on their “Road To Red Rocks” run of shows alongside Pigeons Playing Ping Pong beginning on Wednesday with a show in Columbia, MO leading up to their co-headlining performance at Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheater on May 2nd. Fans can head to the band’s website for tickets to upcoming performances.
