Twiddle and John Popper (Blues Traveler) have collaborated on a new single, “The Devil”, out today.
Popper quickly makes his presence known on the song, adding a screeching harmonica line to mirror the lead guitar riff. The new tune, never before played live by the Vermont quartet, offers an appropriately devil-may-care take on the ever-present obstacles in life, arriving at its driving, distorted rock chorus with a simple affirmation: “The Devil’s never catching me.”
“Life is really tough and riddled with the highest of highs and lowest of lows, ignoring how you feel is never the right answer,” said lead singer/guitarist Mihali Savoulidis. “I wrote this song with the hope that more people will stand up and confront their problems and ultimately live a happier life.”
“In all my years of joyous association with Twiddle, they consistently surprise me to the point that I have come to expect to be surprised, which though oxymoronically counterintuitive as one reads this, remains nonetheless the fact of the matter and what makes the band such a delicious paradox,” Popper opined about the collaboration. “I feel more than kindred with the spirit of this band, I feel a pride in our work together that I am honored to lay some claim to…(though the credit is more theirs than mine)…This song is no different, and is a perfect example of this phenomenon.”
