On Saturday Twiddle performed their second of three Higher Ground Drive-In Experience concerts, featuring a guest appearance from Brandon “Taz” Niederauer.
The drive-in weekend saw the native-Vermont jam band perform three concerts in Essex Junction, VT sponsored by the Higher Ground venue in South Burlington. This three-night run of socially-distanced concerts came two weeks after the band was forced to cancel another weekend run of shows due to new concert restrictions announced by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in response to a concert by The Chainsmokers last month.

Despite the cancellation two weeks prior, or perhaps in response to it, Twiddle came ready to play on Saturday, kicking off the concert with a sandwich of “Zazu’s Flight” into “Bronze Fingers” and back into “Zazu’s Flight”. Next came “The Machine”, followed by an “Apples” sandwich that saw the reliable jam vehicle segue into Mason Williams‘ instrumental “Classical Gas” and back into “Apples”. The “Apples” jam wasn’t done just yet as Twiddle welcomed up guitar prodigy Taz to the stage as they segued into “Every Soul” and ultimately closed out the set.
Set two kicked off with “Dr Remidis Melodium” which begat a jam that wouldn’t stop until the encore break. “Dr Remidis” rolled into “River Drift” which kept the same jam going into “Nicodemus Portulay”, and the band kept on going through “Tom’s Song”, where they once again brought out Taz. Finally the second set came to a close as Twiddle reprised the “Dr Remidis Melodium” that began the second half of the concert. Upon returning to the stage for the encore, Twiddle was joined once again by Taz for a cover of Pink Floyd‘s “Comfortably Numb”, as Taz and Mihali Savoulidis traded David Gilmour licks to send everyone home.
