Tyler Childers is heading home for the holidays with the announcement of a New Year’s Eve run in his native Kentucky. The venerated singer-songwriter will play two nights at Rupp Arena in Lexington on December 30th and 31st.
Shovels & Rope will provide support for the concerts on Saturday and Sunday. Rupp Arena, home of the University of Kentucky Wildcats basketball team, lies some 130 miles from where Childers was born and raised in Lawrence County. This run will mark Childers’ first New Year’s Eve show in his home state (or any state) since 2019, and third overall in Kentucky.
In the face of overwhelming demand for tickets to Childers’ ongoing Send In The Hounds Tour (his first since before COVID), the artist is partnering with Ticketmaster for the upcoming New Year’s Eve pre-sale. Fans will register for the pre-sale here for a chance at an access code allowing them to purchase tickets during the artist pre-sale next week. Fans have until Sunday, July 30th at 11:59 p.m. ET to register for the artist pre-sale, which begins Wednesday, August 2nd at 10 a.m. ET. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday, August 3rd at 10 a.m. ET.
Tyler Childers’ two-night New Year’s Eve run in Lexington will wrap a banner year for the country musician and his fans. After re-emerging from a self-imposed exile in 2022 with Can I Take My Hounds To Heaven?, his first album since 2020’s revelatory Long Violent History, Childers returned to full-scale touring this year to take his three-part gospel project on the road.
In addition to selling out arenas and amphitheaters with a stable of stellar supporting acts like Charley Crockett, Margo Price, Marcus Kung, and others, Childers took top billing at festivals across the country from Stagecoach to Bonnaroo. His Send In The Hounds Tour continues through the end of September, closing with a three-night run through Colorado including two shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
