This past weekend, jam band royalty Umphrey’s McGee returned to The Farm for their 9th year performing at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, where they played a Saturday night late-night set at “That Tent” and a Sunday afternoon set at “Which Stage.” In an onsite interview from the festival with Red Bull TV, bassist Ryan Stasik and guitarist/vocalist Brendan Bayliss spoke about their particularly fond affinity for the Manchester, TN festival.

“It’s special because it’s unlike any other festival. It’s huge, it’s almost overwhelming sometimes, you get a little bit of everything. It’s almost like the Super Bowl, if you want to make a sports analogy,” says Stasik. “It’s just special. Mad love for all the festivals out there…” “But no other festival has had us nine times, so it’s gonna mean more to us” interjects Bayliss.

Stasik and Bayliss also riff about Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, their “old age,” taking musical risks, playing up against the Bonnaroo Superjam, that one time Bayliss performed at the festival in a cape and a Mexican luchador mask, and the most awkward things that their adoring fans have ever asked them.
