Umphrey’s McGee has come up with its own temporary solution to the recent bombardment of cancellations, postponements, and rescheduling due to COVID-19 (coronavirus), which is to offer free, on-demand streams of previous concerts.

The band announced on Thursday that its upcoming four-night run of shows in California this weekend would need to be postponed, due to the governor’s ban on mass gatherings over 1,000 people. Instead, Umphrey’s has opted to provide free streams of its three-night run in The Golden State from 2018. The shows will be available on demand for two weeks, and will oddly be debuted in reverse chronological order of how they originally occurred. Never miss a Sunday show, especially when they play it on a Friday.

It wasn’t how we planned it but you know the drill, when life gives you lemons . . .

Umphrey’s McGee will be streaming the 2018 California run on demand over the course of the next three nights. Tune in for free, from the comfort of your socially distanced home, as we start with an on demand replay from The Observatory North Park in San Diego from March 25th, 2018. Tomorrow we will add the show from The Wiltern in Los Angeles from March 24th and to round things out Saturday, we’ll add the March 23rd show from The Fox Theater in Oakland. All three shows will remain free and on demand for two weeks following their debut.

It wasn’t our first choice, but in light of this weekend’s postponed shows, it’s a little something to help. Hang in there, friends.

This act of generosity comes after Umphrey’s announced on Thursday that the band must postpone its planned RÖCKJAVIK event in Reykjavik, Iceland, originally scheduled for March 20th–22nd. The California 2018 shows will be available to stream through TourGigs, with the Observatory North Park show available to watch now.
