Umphrey’s McGee closed out 2019 with a three-set marathon show at Denver, CO’s The Fillmore Auditorium on Tuesday that included original and cover debuts, noteworthy bust-outs, and a few special guests.

The first set of the night was business-as-usual as the band started with “The Floor”, followed by “It Doesn’t Matter”, and “The Silent Type”, which included references to Glen Frey‘s “You Belong to the City”. “Silent Type” segued right into “2×2”, which then flowed to “Miss Tinkle’s Overture”.

The second set of the night was when things got interesting, as Umphrey’s started by bringing out Mad Dog and his Filthy Little Secrets horns for “Smell The Mitten”. Afterward, Umphrey’s treated attendees to their first cover debut of the evening with a take on David Bowie‘s “Modern Love” which also featured Mad Dog and the horn section, and the latter even stuck around to give support on “13 Days” before exiting the stage.

Umphrey’s retook control of the room with a smattering of originals including “Phil’s Farm”, “Night Nurse”, “Women and Wine Song”, and “Bad Friday” before busting out “Headphones & Snowcones” for the first time since 2016, a gap of 304 shows. Mad Dog and the horns joined in for the rare bust out before helping Umphrey’s close out the set with a cover of Olivia Newton-John‘s “Physical”.

The third and final set saw Umphrey’s take the stage again with Mad Dog and his horns to opening with “All in Time” before a segue to the traditional “Auld Lang Syne”. This preceded the highlight of the evening—the debut of a new Umphrey’s McGee original, “Suxity”.

“Thank you all so much,” guitarist Brendan Bayliss said before diving into the new original for the first time. “So it’s a new year, here’s a new song, we got some new sh*t for ya.”

The band kept the energy going with another debut, this time of Jamiroquai‘s “Alright” before their on-stage guests departed.

After the band wove “Dump City” into “Pay The Snucka”, they busted out The Lonely Island‘s “Dick In A Box” for the first time since 2007 (1,364 show gap), joined once again by Mad Dog and company. Umphrey’s then closed the set with “The Triple Wide”.

The band returned to the stage for the final time and treated fans to one final debut with a cover of Fantastic Negrito‘s “Bullshit Anthem”. This segued into “All In Time” which closed out the show and opened a new year of Umphrey’s McGee.
