Every summer, Umphrey’s McGee and their fans pick out the best moments from the year prior and compiles them into an extensive Hall Of Fame compilation. Late last night, Umphrey’s revealed their “inductees” for last year with the announcement of Hall of Fame: Class of 2017, “a robust collection of the best of the best live tracks performed in 2017 as voted on by the fans.” The new compilation will go on sale on July 11th.

As the 2017 Hall of Fame announcement explains,

After fans voted on the album track offerings, selecting their favorites from 85 live shows performed in 2017, the band weighed in resulting in a joint band/fan collaborative set list. After further careful consideration, the cream of that crop get pressed onto a limited edition double LP.

The Hall of Fame: Class of 2017 compilation will be available as both a 180-gram splattered three-color vinyl (“a heavy contender for ‘raddest UM vinyl to date'”) and a digital download, each containing “4+ hours of music and enough improv to kill a yak.”

The late-night reveal of the 2017 Hall of Fame selections mirrors the surprise release of it’s you last month, part of the band’s celebration of their 20th anniversary this year. Marketed as UM’s “new, new album”, it’s you came as a companion project to their other new 2018 album, it’s not usThe band also just premiered a new music video for “Upward”, the it’s you track that got something of a makeover in the studio after appearing in the band’s live rotation since 2014.
