Umphrey’s McGee brought its European vacation to a close with the conclusion of the RÖCKJAVIK destination event on Sunday. The third and final show at the Eldborg Hall located within the Harpa Concert Hall and Conference Center in Reykjavik, Iceland saw the progressive jam band welcome sit-ins from Jennifer Hartswick and Marc Brownstein.

The Trey Anastasio Band vocalist/trumpeter, who has also been known to stage acoustic sets with UM frontman Brendan Bayliss, first made her presence known on Saturday. At the tail end of a first set front-loaded with classics including a fluid “Preamble” > “Mantis” > “Wife Soup” > “Mantis” movement, Hardwick joined the band for “Bullhead City” and “Electric Avenue to Hell”, neither of which had aired since 2019, per All Things Umphrey’s.

On Sunday, Umphrey’s McGee once again crafted a first set jammed with classics to reward the faithful who traveled all the way to Iceland. In set two, the band pulled out the stops for a grand finale, which saw Hartswick join the Umphrey’s for its first take on Heart‘s “Barracuda” since 4/7/16 (456 shows). The last set of RÖCKJAVIK then came to a fiery close with a “The Triple Wide” which heard teases of “Stairway To Heaven” to anoint fans and band alike in an unadulterated moment of rockstar decadence.

As Umphrey’s McGee took the stage for the encore, notably absent was bassist Ryan Stasik. The mullet-flaunting keeper of the low end was instead replaced by The Disco Biscuits‘ own Marc Brownstein, who opened the show with his funk outfit Star Kitchen. Following a take on “Booth Love”, however, Stasik rejoined the group and took back his trademark pink ax as the band closed out its international excursion with “Puppet String”.
