Today, Umphrey’s McGee finalized the supporting acts for their annual Independence Day weekend run at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. Over the course of February, the Chicago-based rockers have been slowly revealing the supporting artists for the upcoming Red Rocks run, which will take place on July 5th, 6th, and 7th following last year’s expansion to three nights. Following previous announcements of Papadosio on July 6th and The Record Company on July 7th, Umphrey’s McGee has announced today that jamtronica juggernaut Lotus will join them to kick off the weekend.

The announcement of both Lotus and Papadosio as support may surprise some given that both acts have previously headlined Red Rocks Amphitheatre independently. After moving up to the top of the bill in 2011, Lotus has had a longstanding early-fall tradition of headlining the iconic outdoor venue. Similarly, after supporting Umphrey’s McGee in 2015, Papadosio took on their own headlining event at Red Rocks, Re:Creation, in 2016 and 2017, which saw the band recruit legendary visionary artists Alex Grey and Allyson Grey to help create the show’s visuals.

Regardless, Umphrey’s McGee’s Independence Day Weekend run at Red Rocks this year will be one for the books given the immense talent on the bill across all three nights. Tickets for the run are on-sale now and can be purchased here.
